Amy Hess-Kibben, Licensed Legal Paraprofessional

Amy joined Brent as his legal assistant and office manager in 2015. She brings a wide range of life experience and knowledge to the practice. She has a thorough understanding of family law and practical problem-solving, and offers a compassionate approach to every client. After building a successful career as Brent’s legal assistant and office manager, Amy became a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP) in January of 2025. LLPs are a new designation authorized by the Colorado Supreme Court to provide affordable and independent legal services in family law cases.

Given that approximately 75% of litigants in domestic relations cases have no legal representation (“pro se”), LLPs help fill the gap in representation, expediting the judicial process. Amy, as an LLP, is permitted to assist clients directly in lower-asset marital dissolution, parentage, and allocation of parental responsibility (APR) cases.

Clients benefit from the same level of professional care and legal insight that Amy developed through years of hands-on experience in family law and client care; but now with the added flexibility of direct representation at lower costs.

Amy’s approach is rooted in empathy, advocacy, and care. Whether guiding a client through the difficulties of a divorce or merely helping draft pleadings to the court, Amy ensures every client understands their options and feels supported every step of the way. As a member of your legal team, Amy is able to keep your costs down by assisting Brent with the legal process.

There are types of discrete issues that Amy, as an LLP, cannot handle by herself, and for those situations, clients of Warkentine Law Office have the benefit of having Brent ready to jump in. Amy will still assist in such situations under his supervision, however Brent as the attorney will take lead. In addition, if your case is obviously heading to court, Brent will step up and make sure you have experienced representation by your side to help ensure your best chances of success.

Amy is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Family Law Section.
